East Pittsburgh, PA: 17-year-old Antwon Rose, shot and killed as he was running away from a cop.
Kingsland, GA: Anthony Green Jr., shot and killed as he was running away from a cop.
Within the past few weeks these two murders have been committed by police officers who are hired by the city to “protect and serve” the citizenry. Last time I checked Black people are part of that “citizenry”, and they sure aren’t doing any “protecting or serving” except when it comes to themselves. Tax dollars paid by all citizens, pay the salaries of every city, state, and federal employee, so in other words Black people are paying the salaries of those who are killing us without any accountability. Isn’t that the sickest, vilest situation you’ve ever heard of, but that is the insanity that black people in America are living through.
I don’t know exactly what was going through the minds of these two men, when they decided to run from the car in which they were riding in, but I can imagine that “FEAR” was the number one motive. I know that the emotion of “fear” wells up in the pit of my stomach, whenever I see a cop car, and don’t let it pull up behind me, I break out in a sweat. I slow down, make sure I wait just a little too long at a stop sign, and keep my lane changing down to a minimum. I am not doing anything wrong, except for the dreaded, #LivingWhileBlack, so I can relate to the fear that would come over someone who possibly could have done something wrong, or” been at the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong people”.
What I do know is that “fear” and “running” shouldn’t be a death sentence, but it is, if you are black. I do know that cops aren’t hired to be “judge, jury and executioner”, no matter how much people want them to be. I do know that with each murder-by-cop, it appears that they, themselves, gleefully take on the executioner role, like being able to kill a black person without the fear of any punishment was a life long dream come true.
The cops in these two cases have been arrested, but let’s not get our hopes up for a conviction. Remember what happened in Baltimore, Minnesota, Michigan, and the list goes on, of cops who were arrested, and put on trial, but never found guilty of murder. They spent their time on “Administrative Leave”, aka, “paid vacation”, and after it was all over, they were found not guilty, and they got right back to their jobs, abusing and killing black people.
I don’t know what will happen, but it will take a lot, to find jurors who are willing to look past the “blackness” of the murder “VICTIMS”, like that should even be a “thing”, instead of fixating on the “blueness” of the uniform and giving them a pass for murder.
